I have found out what the blocked off squares are (from my previous blog entry), they trap fish!!! The fish get trapped in the area as the tide recedes, then fishermen go out there to collect them.
i've seen guys do that in ship channels here on the gulf coast. when the ship goes through, the water goes out with it, leaving the fish just flopping without water for a few minutes. men with ice chests and lawn chairs run out, grab the fish, and drink more beer til the next ship comes through. i guess it's a universal thing, huh? ;)
I know what you are saying, lanatron, doing it for survival is different than doing it as a sport.
I have to say, the mental image of those guys drinking beer and fishin' is cracking me up right now. But you've got to hand it to them ... it's very clever.
We all take our cultures for granted. Only when we step outside of our country do we find what is important about our own culture. Mumbai is an exciting city for the Traylen clan, and in this blog we try to represent what we find interesting or beautiful about this whole adventure. Thanks for stopping by to check us out.
